This is a form of blackjack that is widely used within online casinos and within real casinos. It gives the player a chance to surrender
before the game has even begun. The dealer does his initial deal and then gives the players the opportunity to surrender their hands. This extra
option does not come free, as you can imagine. You must pay half of your bet if you wish to surrender, in other words: the dealer will pick up your cards and
take half of your bet.
There are some people who have worked everything out and can tell you exactly what to do in each situation. The situations can vary
from number of stocks that are in play,
doubling allowed, dealer stops on
soft/hard 17 or even if you are allowed to double after a split.
As you can imagine with so many variables there will be so many different strategies to play. One thing is for sure and that is they all
tell you that surrendering is a bad thing and should only be done as a last resort. There is nothing wrong with the game surrender
blackjack but when you do surrender, make sure that you know why you are doing it. The golden rule at this game is that you should
only surrender if you have a total of 16 and the dealer has a 9, 10 or Ace. As an extra you might want to remember that you also
surrender when you have a total of 15 and the dealer has a ten.
Only under these circumstances should you ever surrender. Sometimes it is very difficult not to because it is very tempting but try
to bare in mind that the chance of the dealer getting bad cards is the same as is it for you. Your first card is not always the best
but can turnout very profitable later in the game. This rule also applies when your first card is good and think that you are in for a
winner until you see your second card that changes the whole situation.
